English teachers have the privilege of empowering students to effectively express their own voices. As an English with Secondary Education Licensure major at Trinity, you will learn the history of language and literature, foundations of grammar, and how to cultivate creativity as you teach.

COURSEWORK

Our program has a focus on British literature and additional coverage of American and World literatures, along with extensive coursework in Education and a semester of student teaching. Requirements total 95 hours. This includes 48 hours of English courses and 47 hours of professional education courses, of which 12 hours may be used to meet General Education requirements. CAREERS & INTERNSHIPS

Knowledge of literature, grammar, and teaching methods is useless without the opportunity to put it into action. During your time here at Trinity, you will have the chance to engage in classroom observation, lesson planning, and student teaching at local middle and high schools, or even abroad.

As an English-Secondary Education major, you will complete over 100 hours of field experience prior to student teaching. As part of your coursework, you will gain experience in both middle and high school classes in a variety of diverse settings.
