Professor Rentas was formerly a senior research associate at Baxter Travenol. Moving to Abbott Laboratories, he became the lead scientist of the Gonozyme Technical Support Group and participated in the development of a test kit called Chlamydiazyme. Presently he is overseeing undergraduate research that addresses nucleotide sequence differences among 165 rRNA genes in various species of Chlorella. He has a special interest in creationism and is available for presentations. Professor Rentas is the chair of the Department of Biology and Chemistry.
