Elementary Education

Elementary Education

Be a lifelong learner.

Our education professors focus on three things when they teach: the personal, the professional, and the practical. As an Elementary Education major, you will learn to be a dynamic communicator and an effective instructor as you prepare to teach children during their most formative years. We will prepare you to make the transition from sitting in a classroom to leading a classroom.

Be invested in the lives of students. Be a promoter of truth. Be transformative. BeTIU.

Did You Know?

As an Elementary Education major, you will have the choice to complete your student teaching either locally or abroad. Many of our students have traveled to countries such as Costa Rica, India, Brazil, and others to gain multicultural teaching experiences.

Off-Campus Experience

As an Elementary Education major, you will complete over 100 hours of field experience prior to student teaching. As part of your coursework, you will gain experience in both elementary and middle school classes in a variety of diverse settings.

Careers & Internships

Training in teaching and classroom management is useless without the opportunity to practice these skills by putting them into action. During your time here at TIU, you will have the chance to engage in classroom observation, lesson planning, and student teaching at local elementary and middle schools.
